Large Leaf Avens

Here's another "buttercup" like plant and flower. The native Large Leaf Avens (Geum macrophyllum) is a member of the Rose family and typically grows in damp, partially shaded areas. The flowers are about 3/4 inch wide and are same color as the Creeping Buttercup. The plant grows up to about 2 ft., which is taller than the buttercups.

We spotted these growing along the bike trail at Champoeg State Park, 6/15/2013.
