Snowbush

Snowbush (Ceanothus velutinus) probably got its name from its evergreen leaves. The leaves on this tall shrub provide a good winter browsing plant for deer. The egg-shaped, glossy leaves are hairy on the underside and sticky on top -- ready to eat!

The tiny white flowers grow in a cluster are highly aromatic, attracting bees. These at Jackson Bottom Wetlands were humming with bees! 6/14/2013.
