This tiny plant and flower is hard to spot and easy to step on out on the trail! Ken and I were playing disc golf at Stub Stewart State Park yesterday when we saw these. They grow in dense shade, where a bit of sun comes though and are blooming now. The flowers are about 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide and have a pinkish tint. In researching this one, I learned there are several nearly identical variations that can grow in Oregon. I believe the photos show the Pacific Starflower. (6/06/2013)
Pacific Starflower: Trientalis borealis subsp. latifolia
Western Starflower: Trientalis latifolia
Northern Starflower: Trientalis europaea subsp. arctica
