Twinberry (Lonicera involucrate) is a curious native plant in that it seems to flower and fruit at the same time. In the Honeysuckle family, it grows up to 10 ft. tall and blooms in April and May, although the plant below shows blooms now (6/14/2013). The black berries are not edible but the bark was used by Native Americans for medicinal purposes. These are located at Jackson Bottom Wetlands. Also called Black Twinberry, Bearberry Honeysuckle, or Bush Honeysuckle.
